Riding for the disabled - ACTIONED
Callisto Park Equestrian Centre located in Thornlands has been providing animal therapy and horse riding for the disabled since 2012. CPEC has recently clawed its way back after being at serious risk of closure. Beginning again with a new committee and instructor on board, CPEC hopes to thrive once again. The centre has around 30 riders ranging in ages from 3-60 years currently attending weekly lessons. Many of the clients have not previously been able to participate in anything and horse riding has opened up a whole new world to them. Dylan who is 10 and has Williams Syndrome, once suffered severe social anxiety now rides confidently with no support. CPEC is actively seeking funding to contribute to the ongoing farrier fees, horse feed, vaccinations, worming, teeth care and vet fees. Any assistance you can provide would be very much appreciated.

Seeing our son improve and open up his abilities since the centre started is truly amazing. A centre like this is truly changing lives but we need community financial support to keep this centre going. Karen and Jeff Howe x

There couldn't be a more deserving local organisation than CPEC. I would vote a thousand times if I could.

Hippo therapy gives such benefit to children with impaired movement who often become less anxious around animals. RDA is truly a worthy cause to maintain.

Kids with disabilities rarely (if ever) get a chance to participate in ballet, soccer, netball, little athletics or really any of those "regular" saturday morning activities. I can't think of a better organisation to support when speaking of creating community and supporting community! I hope you win!

I am one of the founding members/clients at CPEC and have been there from the start. We have had lots of scary moments with near closures... but I love the place to bits. Love the people and the horses (even the chickens now! haha). The $5k would be lovely for CPEC to win, as I know it would be going to a super worthy cause that has MANY great benefits for both clients and the volunteers :)

CPEC is really doing a wonderful job with the riders, I was lucky to be part of there team as a coach and so enjoyed working there seeing a child smile just because they got to pat a horse or any of the other animals we had there. And the changes riding has made to there lives.
This money would be a dream come true for them so that program can go on growing.

CPEC is such an amazing organisation and after being there over 2 years, I've see so many clients flourish in and out of the centre. Such a big different we make in people's lives and with more support and even more volunteers, we may fall under the radar. Get behind us! Find us on Facebook and see the magic!
